Hyderabad District Collector Priyanka Ala has suspended ad hoc tahsildar Archana over allegations of collecting money from people displaced by the NH-44 Paradise–Dairy Farm elevated corridor. According to an official Collectorate release reported by Telangana Today on 27 October 2026, the suspension was ordered immediately after corruption allegations surfaced. The allegations are yet to be tested in the inquiry.
What the Collectorate said
The release describes the allegations as involving the collection of money from people displaced by the corridor project. The Collector named Special Executive Magistrate Jyothi as inquiry officer and directed her to investigate and submit a report promptly. The report did not state the amount allegedly collected, when the collections took place, a deadline for the inquiry, or the response of the suspended official.
The corridor at a glance
The Secunderabad Cantonment elevated corridor on National Highway 44 runs 5.3 km from Paradise junction to Military Dairy Farm road, via Tadbund and Bowenpally junctions. According to a December 2024 Telangana Today report, 4.6 km is elevated and 0.6 km is a tunnel. The six-lane structure has 131 pillars and a cost of ₹1,580 crore, and a metro line may be added later to make it a double-decker corridor.
Land required
The project needs 73.16 acres in total: 55.85 acres of defence land, 8.41 acres of private land and 8.90 acres for the tunnel. Land acquisition notifications issued on 1 December 2024 covered 62,152 sq yards (12.84 acres) across Bholakpur, Thokatta, Sitarampuram and Bowenpally villages in Tirumalagiri mandal. Affected properties include graveyards, police quarters, a government school, residential apartments and commercial properties. The Defence Ministry had issued orders allotting defence land on 1 March 2024.
What it means for property owners and buyers
Land acquisition for large infrastructure projects typically involves compensation claims, document verification and negotiation, which is where owners are most exposed to informal demands. Affected owners should route every submission through official channels, insist on written acknowledgements and keep records of payments and communication. For buyers around Paradise and Bowenpally, the corridor's alignment and acquisition status are worth checking before purchase, since properties inside the notified area may be acquired.
