Vaasavi Group secures key clearances for Hyderabad's first residential metro-linked skywalk at LB Nagar

Vaasavi Group has secured key clearances for an elevated skywalk linking LB Nagar Metro Station directly to its Vasavi Ananda Nilayam township, which the developer describes as Hyderabad's first metro-to-residential skywalk. The company announced the approvals on 16 September 2026.

Clearances secured

The project has received a No Objection Certificate from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited and a traffic police NOC from DCP Traffic-II, Malkajgiri. Permissions for traffic diversion at the work zone from the ACP LB Nagar Traffic Division and the SHO LB Nagar Traffic Police Station are still pending. The skywalk is being developed through Vasavi Avenues LLP and SR Infra & Developers.

What it changes for residents

Once complete, the skywalk will give about 3,600 residents of LB Nagar's Vasavi Ananda Nilayam direct access to the metro concourse. It reduces a 10–12 minute walk to a 2–3 minute one and lifts pedestrians off a stretch of NH-65 that carries highway-speed traffic with little pedestrian infrastructure. The structure was designed and proof-checked by IIT Hyderabad.

Timeline

Construction is planned to take 180 days from execution of the agreement with L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited. Vaasavi Group's handovers at the township begin progressively from December 2026. The cost was not disclosed.

The last-mile argument

Vaasavi Group chairman and managing director Vijay Kumar Yerram said, "Mass transit is only as good as its last mile, and completing that final stretch is where private developers can do the most." Hyderabad Metro has separately been planning skywalks to link stations with commercial destinations, but a direct link into a residential township would be a first for the city, per the developer.

Walkable metro access is one of the most valued features for commuters, and a direct skywalk could support pricing and rental demand in the township. Buyers should confirm that the pending traffic permissions are cleared and the agreement with the metro operator is executed before counting on the skywalk in a purchase decision.
